A pressure washer has become a must have item for anyone with a car, caravan
or boat, or for the person with a property including a bit of garden driveway or
patio. To make your choice easier we have selected some of the most popular
models from top manufacturers, sought out some of the internet’s keenest prices
and assembled the unique Buy a Pressure Washer website.
Before deciding on your purchase, it’s best to a little bit of homework on
what tasks you might undertake with your new pressure washer. There is quite a
variety of specifications, a myriad of model numbers from the same manufacturers
(often distinguishing only where they are sold) and inevitably a wide range of
prices. For washing the car a fairly simple model may be sufficient – only
needing a high pressure lance and a detergent dispenser and you’re off to a
sparkling clean car. But maybe its not quite so simple as that. You will also
need easy access to an electrical supply with earth leakage detector, a supply
of clean water, usually from the mains to provide enough pressure to feed the
demands of your machine, and, depending on the model of washer you buy, you may
need an extension to the high pressure hose itself. Its easier than trailing the
washer around with you followed by the inlet hose and electrical cable!
So we’ve set the scene – no insurmountable problems – but check some items in
advance before purchase. Is it better to buy one of the dearer models? Not
necessarily. But at the cheaper end of the market it’s very much buyer beware.
Low spec models may be low powered, have a relatively short length of high
pressure hose and have only one type of lance. Always look carefully at the
inclusive accessories (and the length of that high pressure hose – recommended
minimum 7m). Adding at a later date will often work out more expensive. But its
back to our original point – do a little bit of homework and you’ll end up with
a more satisfying purchase.
At this point we want to remind you that it is essential to read and follow
manufacturers’ instruction books. Also ensure safe electrical connections, and
compliance with local fresh water and drainage regulations. Remember too the
instruction leaflets that come with accessories and other additional items like
detergent.
